Technology Overview
|

- When the sun is shining, the electricity produced by the solar system is fed back into the utility grid.
- If the available solar energy is greater than the energy consumed in the house, the meter runs backwards.
- At night and when the solar energy is low, the house pulls electricity from the utility grid, the meter turns forward.
- In the event of a local utility power outage, the PV system continues to generate power during the day to a battery back up system (if you have a battery back up system) otherwise the PV system is automatically disconnected from the grid to ensure complete safety for the crew repairing the line.
- Optionally, a battery storage system can be included to allow operation of some loads in the event of a power outage at night when the sun is not generating power.
